Reflection Five: Reference Lists and Vision Boards
The Blueprint Year: Boredom Hack and Visualization
I love finding new things to try, places to go, recipes, and books on social media. But I save the video, and either forget to come back to it or by the time I try, it’s buried too deeply in my saves.
So this year, I’m trying something new I’m calling Reference Lists. Each one is its own category: Shows/Movies to watch, Books to read, Hobbies to try, Skills to learn, etc. Whenever I find something that I want to check out, I’ll add it to its respective list. And once I do it, I’ll cross it off and put a rating next to it.
This serves three purposes:
1) When I get bored, I won’t have to scroll or search for something to do. I have pre-made lists ready to go.
2) I can keep track of what I’ve tried so far and what I really liked, which can help guide me to creating a life I really enjoy.
3) It will give me a big picture idea of what I’m consuming and spending my time on, and how that might be affecting me.
I’m keeping mine in my daily planner, but the notes app on my phone is a good option too.
This is day 5 of creating my dream life, and yesterday I made an anti-vision board. So today I’m making a vision board based on my other reflections and my goals.
One of my goals is to create a persona/alter ego so I can express that side of myself freely and creatively. That will be its own board on Pinterest. I have another dedicated to myself 2.0. And finally I’ll make a smaller one combining images from both to see the contrast and flow between the two.
The testing phase of Q1 starts soon and I am so excited! I’m ready to start seeing my vision come to life.
